Visitors to HANAZONO EXPO will have the chance to test drive Poimo, a mobile technology developed and promoted by Mercari R4D Researcher Ryosuke Yamamura. The two-day event, held in Higashi Osaka City’s Hanazono Central Park on November 3 and 4, will give people a chance to try this unique device for themselves.
Anyone wishing to take a ride on an electric-powered mobility device from the not-too-distant future won’t want to miss this! The current focus of the Poimo research project is on testing their device toward implementing it in society for persons living with mobility issues. The Poimo test drive sessions held at the event will be open to any member of the public but will prioritize individuals who may Potentially have mobility issues such as persons who use wheelchairs, senior citizens, and people who are pregnant.
What is Poimo?
Poimo is a new type of electric mobility solution that uses an inflatable design. It started as a joint research project between Mercari R4D and Kawahara Laboratory of the University of Tokyo. Currently, R4D is working on research while also refining and improving the device for a public release.
