Position Overview
This is a leadership role in which you will manage research projects and drive the organization as a candidate for an executive position.
In terms of actual research, our primary focus is on joint research with universities and other research institutions. Assessment and decision-making for the types of research we take on are done via an advisory board composed of both internal and external researchers. As Director of R&D, you will take on the difficult responsibility of communicating the vision of R4D and building relationships with various stakeholders to advance and implement our projects in society. We are looking for someone with an insatiable curiosity that allows them to paint an exciting future for the organization and a passion that propels them to persevere through difficult work.
Specific work responsibilities include the following:
- Recruiting, training, goal setting, evaluation, and providing feedback for researchers
- Managing research projects
- Finding new research partners
- Discovering new areas of research and planning new research projects
- Planning and advancing new projects so that R4D’s research drives Mercari’s business growth and achieves implementation in society
