The official YouTube channel of the Moonshot Research and Development Program, run by the Japan Science and Technology Agency (JST), recently released a video interview featuring Senior Mercari R4D Researcher Shota Nagayama entitled, “Aiming to Establish a Scalable and Robust Integrated Quantum Communication System” (available only in Japanese).
Mercari R4D joined the Moonshot Research and Development Program, a program run by the Japanese Cabinet Office, as part of the organization’s activities aiming to create a quantum-based era that will restructure society and industry premised on quantum technology. R4D is now in charge of research related to the design of a quantum communication system for this research and development project aimed at creating a “scalable and robust integrated quantum communication system.” Nagayama also works as the project manager of this project at Keio University.
In the video, Nagayama talks about how he became interested in quantum network research, the current state and potential applicability of quantum computer network research, and the challenges and importance of collaboration amongst specialists in hardware, communication networks, theory, and software.
